Life is a journey, both personally and professionally.
Every stage of life presents new challenges and steps along this journey.
I am an advocate for play pedagogy, nurture and the outdoors. This has led me to found a fully outdoor nursery, establish a professional network for outdoor nurseries in Scotland and provide support for educators at all levels with their development.
The steps of my own journey have included being a teacher, team leader, trainer, mentor, social entrepreneur, workshop facilitator and presenter. I have over 20 years experience working independently and in local authorities.

Mucky Boots Nature Kindergarten, which I founded in 2017, has been recognised both locally and nationally as a high quality setting for young children. Most notably, it has been recognised as a ‘Pioneer Setting’ by Early Childhood Outdoors. Our community has grown through nurture, respect and connection at all levels.
As a trustee of Upstart Scotland, I am proud to work with an incredible group of advocates and experts to raise the profile of play and campaign for a later start to formal education in Scotland.
